MES Student Services

Marseilles Elementary School is dedicated to providing comprehensive support to students, families, and staff members. Led by Stephanie Atchley, Student Services addresses the academic, social, emotional, and health needs of all students. With a focus on collaboration and inclusivity, they strive to create a nurturing environment where every student can thrive. Some of the roles and responsibilities of student services includes:

  • Counseling and Guidance: Student services personnel, such as our school social workers and psychologist, provide individual and group counseling to students, addressing issues such as social skills, behavior management, conflict resolution, and emotional well-being.

  • Special Education Support: Student services staff work with students who have special needs or learning disabilities, providing assessments, developing individualized education plans (IEPs), and offering specialized instruction and support services. • Academic Support: Student services may offer academic support programs such as tutoring, study skills workshops, and enrichment activities to help students succeed academically.

  • Behavior Intervention: Student services staff may work with students who exhibit challenging behaviors, developing behavior intervention plans and providing support to teachers and families to address these behaviors.

  • Social and Emotional Learning (SEL): Student services often include programs and initiatives focused on promoting social and emotional skills such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.

  • Parent and Family Support: Student services personnel may work closely with parents and families to address concerns, provide resources, and foster positive parent-school partnerships to support student success.

  • Crisis Intervention: Student services staff may be trained to provide crisis intervention and support in situations such as emergencies, trauma, or other critical incidents affecting students and the school community.

  • Attendance and Truancy: Student services may monitor student attendance and address issues related to truancy or chronic absenteeism, working with families and community agencies to improve school attendance.

  • Community Resources Coordination: Student services may collaborate with community organizations and agencies to access additional resources and support services for students and families, such as mental health services, after-school programs, and family counseling.
